Olga and Priit Pärn awarded lifetime achievement award
At the recently concluded Bilbao International Animation Community Festival, ANIMAKOM FEST, Olga and Priit Pärn were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The festival featured over one hundred and twenty films, divided into four competition categories. The festival culminated on Saturday, July 3, with the presentation of the Animakom Lifetime Achievement Award to animation legends Olga Pärn and Priit Pärn. They have influenced an entire generation of filmmakers worldwide with their films and their work at the Estonian Academy of Arts’ Animation Department, according to the festival’s press release. The award was presented by Daniel Šulic, Artistic Director of Animafest Zagreb, and film critic and Animation Network journalist Nancy Denney-Phelps. The festival program included screenings of all the films created by the Pärns.
This is Priit Pärn’s eighth lifetime achievement award. Among these, he received the Cultural Endowment of Estonia’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. Commenting on the event in Bilbao, Priit Pärn modestly remarked, “Where there is, more will come.”
