The Winners of ANIMATED DREAMS 2014 Were Announced
The winners of ANIMATED DREAMS 2014 were announced at the Sõprus movie theatre on the evening of 22 November.
The festival’s Grand Prix award, which was presented by Nukufilm Studio, was awarded to the film Worst-Case Scenario (Eesti Joonisfilm 2014) by the Estonian filmmaker Kristjan Holm, which stood out in the international competition programme in the way it told an original story, its extraordinary sense of humour, and its political message.
The award for Best Sound Design went to the film Pilots on the Way Home (Eesti Joonisfilm 2014) by Priit and Olga Pärn
The award for Best Visuals went to Nicolai Troshinsky’s Astigmatism (Spain 2013).
Isaac Holland’s La Petite Maison (Great Britain 2014) was recognised as the Best Student Film. The online animation school Animation Mentor sponsors the student film award. In addition to the main awards, the members of the festival jury awarded three special prizes, or special mention: Maroš Brojo (Slovakia), organiser of the Fest Anca Festival, singled out the film The Obvious Child (Stephen Irwin, Great Britain 2013), Ülo Pikkov’s film Tik-Tak (Nukufilm 2014) turned out to be the favourite of the filmmaker Hefang Wei (France), who was the winner of the Grand Prix at Animated Dreams 2013, and the special prize from Estonian filmmaker Kaspar Jancis went to the film Storm Hits Jacket (Paul Cabon, France 2014).
