New Estonian animated short films to reach viewers
On 5 November, 5 new puppet and animated films from Estonian authors will premiere at the Sõprus cinema.
Reaching viewers will be Girlin Basovskaja’s animated film About Love, Kaspar Jancise’s Cosmonaut, Anu-Laura Tuttelberg’s Winter in a Rain Forest, Priit Tender’s Orpheus and Riho Und’s The Wings. The films were completed by the Nukufilm and Eesti Joonisfilm studios.
‘Estonian animation is like a Kihnu skirt, a Muhu slipper or Setu moonshine, it is an integral part of our identity,’ said director Priit Tender.
Nukufilm producer Kerdi Oengo added: ‘I am genuine delighted that we have strong authors in Estonia, whose films find their way through premiere festivals to the broader viewing public around the world. We also wish those new animated films success. Estonian viewers see films at special cinema screenings, through Estonian language television channels and the video streaming services of telecommunications companies.’
New short-animated films will be reaching the broader public via screenings at Sõprus cinema on 13 November, where the public will be able to meet the authors of the films.
Film production was sponsored by the Estonian Film Institute and Kultuurkapital SA.
